Food can bring back nostalgic memories and experiences with just one bite. It’s like the experience never ends when one recipe can bring it all back.
Yolanda creates recipes that people remember from the travels they had or at the dinner table of those they love and she helps people recreate these dishes exactly the way they remember by traveling the world and cooking with local chefs in order to learn exactly how to cook it and what it should really taste like. She creates cooking classes inspired by the locations she’s traveled to and the experiences at the locations. Her goal is to open up a physical building where she can offer cooking classes with a kitchen store upfront.

NOSTALGIC. AUTHENTIC. APPROACHABLE. TRAVELED.
“The best memories are made around the table.” This quote really resonated with the mood and vibe for Foodstalgia. We all know what it’s like to be transported back in time when you have a dish that’s exactly like what you’re Grandma used to make or a loved one that’s passed away, or that anniversary trip you went on out of state or country. Those feelings are all wrapped up on this board to bring out the essence of not only a traveling foodie but joy of home and the good ol days of cooking with mom.
A STAMP IN YOUR MEMORY PASSPORT
I wanted the design to feel like you are being transported back somewhere in your memory which led me down the path of passports, stamps and vintage feeling designs. By blending the travel aspect (the stuble globe worked into the circle) with the memories from home (the aspect of Yolanda’s childhood that has an influence on today) the logo is built to feel both vintage and modern. I didn’t want to lean into too many different food icons in the logo so I went with a universally recognized pot with cute little steam hearts to symbolize the idea that you’re cooking up something you love.
A LITLE BIT OF HOME. A LITTLE BIT OF TRAVEL.
A WHOLE LOT OF FOOD.
When putting together the rest of the brand system I wanted to embody the different aspects of home, travel, nostalgia and of course, food. What better way than to have hand written recipes (I know everyone has that box of recipes passed down before the internet was a thing), terracotta texture (for those well worn building you see in your travels), a topographic pattern (a nice illustrative way to reinforce the idea of locations all over the world), and last but not least, handdrawn illustrated food ingredients (which we know is an important staple to getting recipes juuuuust right!). The color palette and type system feel friendly, approachable, refined and fun. All the things that bubble up about Yolanda and her love of food and teaching!
