Harry Potter Birthday Party

The options were endless once Audrey decided on a Harry Potter party but we wanted to be mindful of the fact that most of her guests weren’t as knowledgeable about the series like she was. So we set out to make sure that we sprinkled some background about the story and why certain things were so special throughout the day. And of course, the first place to start was an invitation designed as an official acceptance letter from Professor McGonagall herself!

PLATFORM NINE AND THREE QUARTERS:
Guests first had to enter the party through Platform 9 3/4.

MADAM MALKIN’S ROBES:
Of course you need to have attire fitting for a wizard, so guests picked up their robes once they entered.

OLLIVANDER’S WAND SHOP:
Then onto wand selection. All wands were hand-made and painted to be unique. Because we know that the wand chooses the wizard we attached info on the wand with the guests name written in invisible ink on the back of the card so it was a surprise which wand they received.

HOGWART’S CLASSES:
We had special setups of Hogwarts classes.

Charms & Spells - where they made their own tiny charm necklaces and practiced making a balloon fly

Potions - where guests made elephant toothpaste, and

Divination - where we told their futures (with a little help from food coloring and sprite!)

HOGSMEADE DELIVERY:
There was also a special delivery of the candy cart and homemade butterbeer.

QUIDDITCH:
We built the hoops, spray painted brooms and had the kids play an on-the-ground rendition of quidditch

THE DAILY PROPHET:
We rounded out the day with a photoshoot area reenacting the famous Sirius Black article
