
The Jolt! Conference (2023)
The financial industry’s first marketing conference was back for year 2! Jolt! shook up the space in the financial industry in its first year and for 2023 Snappy Kraken focused on how robotic advisor marketing is. We wanted to encourage the idea of putting the heart back into marketing which spawned the questioning robot. Lots of wild brainstorming sessions and collaborations resulted in the aspects of the mechanics of tearing something down, building it from scratch and the thought process of considering the elements to keep or throw away. We illustrated this in different ways throughout all of the pieces built for the conference.

The Snappy Kraken Creative Director was an extremely talented illustrator so there were always fun ways to tie in what she loved doing to the larger narrative.
Early Advisorbot Sketches
SETTING THE TONE FOR THE CREATIVE
Approaching marketing robotically with no strategy, creativity and no heart can make advisors feel out of touch at best or downright obtrusive at worst. Advisorbot is dated, off putting, repeating cliche’s ad nauseam, over using industry jargon, and talks at people rather than with them.
With these thoughts in mind we set out to aesthetically depict the transformation for an advisor in going from robot to human again. We told the story from the angle of a tech workshop of sorts. What would you need to build something new? Where is your starting place and what does the finish line look like and how many different ways does that story come into play that we can introduce visually? Manga, Iron Man, school workborks, sketching, tech, and more! You’ll see those influences throughout the design.
I am a huge fan of the storytelling in anime especially so that always makes its way into brainstorms :)
THE JOLT! VIDEO & WELCOME OPENING SEQUENCE
For the opening sequence there were a few working parts leading up to the welcome. We first conceptualized going into the failing battery heart of the robotic advisor and giving it a “jolt” to bring it back to life. Then wrote and creatively directed the vision for the hype video. Next the teaser trailer for the conference and the part 2 that was written and directed to take place at the conference to bring in interactivity with the audience. My team oversaw all parts of this to ensure the message stayed tied to the theme.
